Steve has been a consultant on many Microstar products, and joined the team permanently in 2000. In addition to his duties as our senior mechanical engineer, he is a Professional Engineer and runs his own engineering and consulting firm. With over 20 years of mechanical engineering experience, Steve is the go-to guy whenever Microstar's electrical engineers find themselves out of their element.
Steve designed, analyzed and developed the composite reflector with removable wings and the monopod feed support for our 12ft. transportable radar antenna. And his expertise isn't limited to antennas. He's also provided proposal, design and analysis services for various mechanical/structural show action effects and simulators for Universal Studio's Islands of Adventure theme parks in Orlando and Japan.
Other notable work from Steve:
- Designed, developed and aligned a mobile 20ft. diameter dual-frequency antenna reflector using a highly repeatable structural joint design;
- Designed, analyzed and developed small- and large-scale structural/mechanical equipment for space hardware ground support;
- Drive sizing, drive type selection and design for high dynamic large diameter ground base antenna tracking and communication systems;
- Performed site management and technical liaison during installation and testing for a large-scale radar test range used to measure RCS of an object.
Prior to starting his own consulting company and working with Microstar, Steve spent 17 years as a staff engineer at Harris Corporation.
